Wamalwa vows to probe Kenya’s G-to-G fuel deal after Museveni exposes middlemen

Democratic Action Party of Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa pledged to investigate Kenya's Government-to-Government (G-to-G) fuel import system after Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni exposed the practice of middlemen facilitating the trade. In a post on his official X account on September 19, 2026, Wamalwa stated that those responsible for the "G to G rip-off" would be held accountable for the financial burden on Kenyan and Ugandan consumers.

"We shall revisit this G to G rip off H.E [@KagutaMuseveni] has revealed, when we form Government next year. These Kenyan brokers shall be held to account for each shilling they ripped of Kenyans and Ugandans who bore the brunt of high fuel prices as profiteers made billions of shs," he added.

Museveni made the revelation on September 17, 2026, while inaugurating a 320-million-litre petroleum storage terminal in Uganda. He said he was unaware that Uganda procured petroleum products through intermediaries in Kenya until a Kenyan senator informed him. "The Republic of Uganda was buying petroleum products through middlemen in Kenya.

Can you imagine that? And the person who woke me up first was a senator from Kenya," Museveni commented. The discovery led to Museveni questioning Uganda's procurement methods and seeking direct sourcing options, resulting in reduced premiums for imported petroleum products.
