Viral performance video sparks calls for legal action over alleged insults to Rukun Negara

Royal Malaysia Police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission urged to investigate viral performance video, according to National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.

The video, posted on Instagram by 'The Fever Kinetic Theatre', allegedly contains elements insulting to Malay Rulers, Malaysia, and the Rukun Negara, as stated by Aaron. He emphasized the importance of respecting the law, national institutions, and social harmony.

According to Aaron, the Rukun Negara is the national ideology and philosophy guiding the nation's unity, proclaimed on August 31, 1970. He described the act in the performance as irresponsible, excessive, and unacceptable.

Dr Zulkifli Hasan, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), also expressed concern over the video, stating it breached proper conduct and social norms. He urged the organizers to issue a public apology and called for a thorough investigation and legal action against any party insulting the country's foundations.

Aaron urged citizens, including artists and content creators, to exercise their freedom responsibly, emphasizing that artistic platforms should uplift the soul and unite the people, not divide them.
