Trump vows to form "AI Force," says he won't allow slowdown of AI development

President Trump announced on Saturday the formation of an AI Force, dismissing warnings about the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence. In a Truth Social post, the former president characterized concerns about AI potentially becoming a superintelligent entity that could threaten human existence as a falsehood. Trump vowed to promote AI growth within the United States, asserting that the justice system provides a safeguard.

He emphasized that the administration would not hinder or impede the development of this burgeoning industry, but rather support and oversee its expansion. Trump likened AI to the next Industrial Revolution or the Internet, predicting it could contribute up to 25% of the country's GDP. In addition to creating the AI Force, reminiscent of his Space Force creation during his first term, Trump plans to appoint an AI Czar.

In December 2024, he appointed David Sacks as the White House A.I. & Crypto Czar, whose tenure concluded in March 2026. Former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon warned that Anthropic and OpenAI are "gambling with our lives" by developing self-improving superintelligence. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei acknowledged real dangers associated with AI, urging the industry to slow down development due to potential risks and expressing concern that the industry misled the public about the technology's inherent dangers.
