Slovak PM says some in West seek war between Russia and Nato

Bratislava, Slovakia - Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has cautioned that certain Western politicians are attempting to provoke a conflict between NATO and Russia due to their failure to defeat Moscow in the ongoing Ukraine War. Fico, a longtime leader of Slovakia, has maintained warm relations with Russia and has refused to provide military aid to Ukraine.

He expressed his alarm at the West's continued support for Ukraine, stating that it had not achieved the desired outcome and had instead increased the risk of a larger-scale war in Europe. Fico warned that a small group of "war hawks" within NATO were actively seeking ways to turn the Ukraine conflict into a confrontation between Russia and NATO.

He emphasized that the Ukraine War is not Slovakia's or NATO's war and stressed that Slovakia would not participate in a conflict initiated for fabricated reasons. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk have also expressed concerns over Russia's growing use of hybrid attacks, citing recent incidents such as a drone attempt at Leipzig airport and potential future Russian aggression against NATO allies supporting Ukraine.
