Nkrumah’s vision must guide Ghana and Africa’s future - Ellembelle MP

Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has urged Ghanaians and Africans to reaffirm their dedication to the principles of self-determination, Pan-Africanism, and prosperity championed by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The call came during the 2026 edition of the NkrumahFest held in Nkroful, Western Region.

The festival, which celebrated Nkrumah's enduring legacy, aimed to inspire a new generation to uphold and advance Nkrumah's ideals. Armah-Kofi Buah emphasized that Nkrumah's vision for Ghana and Africa should be judged by the institutions and infrastructure he created, such as the Akosombo Dam, Tema Harbour, and the University of Ghana.

He argued that these initiatives were conceived for future generations rather than immediate political gains. The Minister highlighted Nkrumah's Pan-African vision, which emphasized the shared history, aspirations, and destiny of African nations, despite colonial borders. He noted that the ongoing challenges in cross-border movement and integration underscore the need to revisit Nkrumah's vision of continental unity.

Armah-Kofi Buah encouraged Ghanaians to make Nkrumah's vision relevant to current national challenges by promoting self-reliance, innovation, and development. He also called for stronger public support in combating illegal mining and environmental degradation. The Minister praised President John Dramani Mahama and the government for their support in commemorating Dr. Nkrumah's legacy, including the establishment of Founders' Day and the institutionalization of the annual NkrumahFest.

Armah-Kofi Buah urged participants to carry forward Nkrumah's values of self-determination, Pan-Africanism, innovation, and national development, transforming the vision of a united and prosperous Africa from an aspiration into reality.
