Mitchell sets WNBA single-season scoring record as Fever top Tempo 103-85

On Friday, the Indiana Fever achieved a significant milestone in women's basketball by setting a WNBA single-season scoring record. Led by Kelsey Mitchell's impressive performance of 33 points, the Fever defeated the Toronto Tempo 103-85. Mitchell's scoring achievement surpassed A’ja Wilson's previous record of 1,021 points, which she set during the 2024 season while playing for the Las Vegas Aces.

Caitlin Clark contributed 28 points along with 14 assists to help the Fever secure their third consecutive win and their eighth victory in 10 games. The Tempo, on the other hand, suffered their fifth loss in a row and 17th loss out of their last 18 games.

The Fever dominated the first quarter, pulling away with a 79-73 lead by the end of the third quarter. However, their poor free-throw shooting, with a 19 for 30 miss rate, cost them the game. Despite this, Mitchell finished the game with an impressive 1,034 points, marking a significant milestone in women's basketball history.

Toronto Tempo's Laura Juskaite led her team with 22 points, followed by rookie Kiki Rice's 18. Canadian Immanuel Quickley, playing for the Raptors, was also present at the Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto to support his hometown team.
