Keralam Finance dept sanctions ₹1,438 crore to local bodies under road, non-road maintenance funds

The Finance Department of Kerala has granted ₹1,438.56 crore to local bodies for the second tranche of maintenance funds for the fiscal year 2026-27. This sum is divided between non-road maintenance and road maintenance. A total of ₹539.46 crore has been designated for non-road maintenance, while ₹899.10 crore is allocated for road maintenance. The government's initial budget for these funds in the same fiscal year was ₹4,315.68 crore.

The distribution of these funds is based on the size and type of local bodies. Six municipal corporations will receive ₹114.51 crore, municipalities will get ₹208.7 crore, district panchayats will be allocated ₹174.03 crore, block panchayats will receive ₹67.02 crore, and gram panchayats will be awarded ₹874.24 crore.
