Jabatan Penjara kunjungi rumah Najib

Malaysia's Prison Department sent two official cars to the former Prime Minister Najib Razak's residence in Langkawi Duta early Thursday. The vehicles were spotted entering the residence around 9:40 AM, according to Berita Harian. The presence of the officers was considered in assessing the suitability of the residence as Najib's home detention location.

The officers were then seen surveying the surrounding area for about 15 minutes before returning to the premise. Najib's special aide, Ahmad Lutfi Azhar, declined to comment on the officers' presence when approached. A team of media personnel was also present at the residence since early morning to follow up on the developments following Najib's conditional pardon.

On Tuesday, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, granted Najib a conditional pardon to serve the remaining part of his sentence at home until August 23, 2028, subject to a RM50 million fine. Under the conditional pardon, Najib must adhere to all stipulated conditions; otherwise, the pardon will be revoked, and he will continue his sentence in prison.

Najib has been serving his sentence at Kajang Prison since August 23, 2022, following the confirmation of his conviction and sentence by the Federal Court for misappropriation of RM42 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd.
