Israeli strikes kill 3 people in Gaza

Gaza City witnessed Israeli airstrikes on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of at least three Palestinians, according to health officials. One of the victims, Basir Al-Bursh, was the son of Munir Al-Bursh, the territory's health ministry director-general. Another strike claimed the life of a man in Shejaia, while a third hit a vehicle in Gaza City's Sheikh Radwan district, killing one person.

The Israeli military targeted several militants on Saturday, including Basir Al-Bursh, though it did not disclose further details. Hamas, the ruling Palestinian militant group, has not commented on the strikes. Basir Al-Bursh was seen in a video crying over his son's body after it was rushed to the hospital following the airstrike.

In another incident, Munir Al-Bursh lost his daughter in an Israeli airstrike in December 2023. Medics and family members reported that the Israeli strikes have killed over 73,000 Palestinians since the ongoing assault, which began following a Hamas-led attack in October 2023 that left about 1,200 people dead. The US-brokered ceasefire aims for Gaza's reconstruction, but little progress has been made, with more than 1,300 Palestinians, mainly civilians, killed in Gaza since the ceasefire took effect. Four Israeli soldiers have also lost their lives.
