IIT Bombay denies action against student after FIR filed alleging abetment of suicide over ChatGPT-linked exam row

IIT Bombay has denied taking any action against a student following an FIR filed against the institution for abetting a student's suicide. The student was found using a mobile phone during an examination and had uploaded the question paper to ChatGPT to seek answers. The institution stated that no disciplinary action was taken against the student and he was counseled by the instructor, faculty head, and Head of the Department, who assured him that the incident would not affect his academic career.

IIT Bombay expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the student and assured support to the student's family, friends, classmates, faculty members, and others affected by the tragic incident. The circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the appropriate authorities.
