Churches’ council invites Umno man for dialogue after ‘priest and nun’ joke

The Council of Churches in Malaysia has extended an invitation to Sepang Umno chief Noorazli Said to participate in an interfaith dialogue following the controversy surrounding his offensive "joke" about a Catholic priest and a nun. The dialogue, to be held at the CCM Ecumenical Center, aims to foster understanding and reconciliation among diverse religious communities in the multicultural society.

The council acknowledged the validity of the widespread criticism against Noorazli's remarks, emphasizing that genuine reconciliation requires a willingness to sit down, engage in meaningful conversation, and extend grace to one another. They expressed hope that this dialogue would provide a platform for exchanging views on strengthening interfaith relationships and promoting peace, mutual respect, and unity in Malaysia.
