Asante Akyem South Assembly commissions 3-unit classroom block for Tokwai Methodist Primary

The Asante Akyem South Assembly in Ghana has recently commissioned a new three-unit classroom block for Tokwai Methodist Primary School in the Asante Akyem South Municipality. This comes after years of overcrowded classrooms, with three or four pupils previously sharing a single desk. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Maame Sarfoa Appiah, officially inaugurated the facility on behalf of the Asante Akyem South Assembly.

The project also comprises a headmaster's office, a staff common room, a store room, and a toilet facility.

Maame Sarfoa Appiah informed Adom News that the Assembly funded the project using the Common Fund, expressing their willingness to continue supporting the education sector. The issue of inadequate classrooms had been raised by Adom News correspondent Isaac Amoako about five years ago, when he observed that three or four pupils had to cram into a desk for lessons due to a shortage of classrooms.

Headmaster Raphael Ansah had expressed his primary challenge as the lack of sufficient classrooms, and he had appealed to the government, stakeholders, and benevolent organizations for a modern classroom block.

Upon the commissioning of the new facility, Mr. Ansah expressed his gratitude to Adom News for its report and to the government for its support. Additionally, Kwabena Nkansah Eduful, a former Assembly Member for the Tokwai electoral area, also extended his appreciation to Adom News for its coverage of the project.
