Arsenal handed first loss by brilliant Brighton

Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the season after being stunned by Brighton at Amex Stadium. Brighton started the match in confident style and took the lead 31 minutes into the game with a shot from the edge of the box that went in off the post. Despite the Gunners' nine wins in a row at the start of the season, they struggled to settle and looked nervy on the ball.

Arsenal managed to force a shot on target just before half-time when Bukayo Saka, but it did not result in a goal. Brighton scored their second goal just seconds after Saka's miss, with Charalampos Kostoulas taking advantage of too much space in the box to fire past David Raya. Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's manager, did not make any changes at half-time, hoping for a response from his side, but it did not come as Chema Andres headed in Brighton's third goal 12 minutes into the second half.

The loss left Arsenal second in the table on goal difference, while Brighton moved up to third and two points behind the leaders. The defeat served as a wake-up call for the below-par Gunners, who had been on an impressive winning streak against weaker opponents.
