After Rs3 billion success, ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ makers announce next film ‘Picnic’

Bhavana Studios, a prominent Malayalam production house, has announced their next film, 'Picnic', a family entertainer set for a global theatrical release on January 14, 2027. The movie marks the directorial debut of Kiran Josey, who previously co-wrote the studio's successful films, Premalu and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit. Both films have been noteworthy successes, with Premalu grossing ₹136 crore worldwide and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit crossing the ₹300 crore (₹3 billion) mark.

In 'Picnic', Josey has co-written the script alongside Anuraj O.B. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including debutant young actor Sandeep Pradeep, alongside established Malayalam actors such as Indrajith Sukumaran, Dileesh Pothan, Sujin Sreedharan, Akshatha Ajith, and Reshma Jose. The production is spearheaded by Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil, and Syam Pushkaran, while Adarsh Sadanandan serves as the cinematographer, Sanath Sivaraj as the editor, and Govind Vasantha as the music composer.

The film's visuals are brought to life by Vivek Kalathil, the production designer, while Ashish Nambiar handles costumes and Ronex Xavier is the makeup artist. Suhail Koya has penned the lyrics, with sound design by Shankaran K.S. and K.C. Siddharthan, and Vishnu Sujathan managing the final mix. Egwhite VFX is responsible for visual effects, Color Planet Studios handles color grading and DI.

'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit' reached the ₹300 crore milestone following its August 21 release, as reported by Bhavana Studios. The romantic comedy-drama stars Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, along with Vinay Forrt, Bindu Panicker, Suresh Krishna, Shameer Khan, Shyam Mohan, and Srindaa. Executive producers Benny Kattappana and Jose Vijay, along with production controller Jamsheer Purakkattiri and chief associate director Aneesh George, oversee the project.
