3 killed, 9 injured in crash on Jalan Jelapang-Ampang

A fatal accident occurred on Jalan Jelapang-Ampang early this morning, claiming the lives of three motorcyclists and injuring nine others. The incident involved 12 motorcycles and three cars, according to Ipoh police chief Najib Hamzah.

Witnesses alerted the police to the accident at approximately 3:35 am. Initial investigation revealed that all vehicles were en route from Meru towards Tambun when the mishap took place. Najib Hamzah stated that two male motorcyclists, aged 19 and 20, succumbed to their injuries at the scene due to the severity of their wounds. Another 19-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

Nine male motorcyclists, ranging in age from 19 to 25, sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity. They were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. The three drivers of the cars involved in the accident were fortunate enough to walk away unharmed.

Najib Hamzah informed the public that the police are currently investigating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving. The authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the traffic investigation and enforcement division at the Ipoh police headquarters.
