Students should remain connected with peers, faculty to enrich themselves, says Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh

Md. Alimuzzaman, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of maintaining connections with peers and faculty members for engineering students during the opening ceremony of the 17th edition techno management festival, Gravitas 26. This annual event, organized by VIT at its Vellore campus, aims to enrich students through passionate competition and the application of technical skills in practical scenarios.

Alimuzzaman urged students to expand their horizons beyond classroom learning and competitions, highlighting the significance of using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to tackle societal issues and potentially generate business opportunities. He also underscored the need to utilize modern technologies, such as drones, for beneficial purposes rather than destructive ones.

In his address, VIT's founder and chancellor, G. Viswanathan, stressed the importance of employing advanced technologies as a developmental tool for society's betterment. He pointed out that Bangladesh, despite political instability, has made significant strides in economic growth, becoming the world's largest exporter of textiles.

With a per capita income of $2,900, Bangladesh has outpaced both India and Pakistan in terms of income levels. The three-day festival will host a total of 227 events, attracting over 40,000 students, with 76 events already concluded and 151 more scheduled to take place during graVITas. The prize pool amounts to approximately Rs 25 lakh in cash and Rs 1.5 crore in kind.

HCLTech executives Pawan Vadapalli, Corporate Vice President and Global Head of Digital Business Services, and Prince Jayakumar, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Talent Acquisition, as well as VIT's Sankar Viswanathan and Sekar Viswanathan, were among the attendees.
