Early voting for midterm elections begin in some states

Early voting commenced in certain US states on Friday, weeks prior to the crucial midterm elections. The primary concerns for voters revolve around President Donald Trump's governance, soaring prices for fuel, groceries, and other essentials, as well as the ongoing Iran conflict.

Virginia has initiated early voting in specific regions for those keen on pre-casting their ballots. In several other states, such as Idaho, Minnesota, and South Dakota, eligible voters can apply for and cast absentee ballots in person at designated locations. However, it is worth noting that early voting laws differ across states, with some jurisdictions not commencing the process until mid-October.

In Michigan, Muslim American Democrat Abdul El Sayed is contesting against Trump's endorsed candidate Mike Rogers, while progressive former teacher James Talarico faces off against Republican Ken Paxton in Texas. Historically, the president's party usually suffers losses in congressional seats during midterms. Currently, Trump's approval rating stands at around 35 percent, as per the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll.
