Najib dibenar tahanan rumah jika bayar denda RM50 juta

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak was sentenced to house arrest in August 2022 following the Perak State Court's rejection of his final appeal in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case. The Federal Territories Reliance Council (LPWP) has granted Najib the opportunity to serve the remainder of his imprisonment under house arrest until August 2028, contingent upon his payment of a RM50 million fine.

Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, has approved the conditional pardon, allowing Najib to complete his sentence at home if he meets the established conditions. Failure to comply with any of the conditions would result in the revocation of the conditional pardon, and Najib would have to resume his prison sentence. The LPWP did not disclose any additional conditions that Najib must meet to receive the conditional pardon.

Previously, media reported that the LPWP had re-applied for Najib's pardon at Istana Negara earlier today, a week after delaying their consideration. The LPWP was convened by Sultan Ibrahim and included National Chief Advisor Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, the federal Deputy Prime Minister Hannah Yeoh, and three other appointed members. Najib is currently serving a six-year prison sentence reduced by 12 years in the Kajang Prison, after the LPWP reduced his original six-year sentence by half in February 2024.

The original fine of RM210 million was also reduced to RM50 million. Najib was arrested in August 2022 after the Federal Court rejected his latest appeal in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case. In December 2025, Najib was charged with abuse of power and embezzlement of fraudulent funds involving over RM2 billion linked to the 1MDB scandal. He faces a 15-year prison sentence and a RM11.38 billion fine. Najib is appealing that conviction.
