Najib dibenar tahanan rumah jika bayar denda RM50 juta

Former Prime Minister Najib Razak is serving a six-year jail sentence at The Palace of Justice after the Federal Court rejected his final appeal in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case. The Personal Committee of the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong (LPWP) has approved Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until August 2028, provided he pays a RM50 million fine.

Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim granted the conditional pardon for Najib to serve the remaining sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, if he pays the RM50 million fine. He must adhere to the specified conditions; otherwise, the conditional pardon is revoked, and he must complete the remaining sentence in prison.

The LPWP has not disclosed any other conditions required for Najib to receive the conditional pardon. Recently, media reported that the LPWP returned to Istana Negara to discuss Najib's pardon application a week after its consideration was postponed. The LPWP was constituted by Sultan Ibrahim, alongside National Attorney Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, Malaysia Prime Minister's Department Minister Hannah Yeoh, and three other members appointed by His Royal Highness.

Currently, Najib is serving the reduced six-year prison term at Kajang Prison following the LPWP's 12-year reduction in 2024. The original fine of RM210 million has been reduced to RM50 million. Najib was arrested in August 2022 after the Federal Court dismissed his final appeal in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case. In December 2025, he was charged with misconduct in office and misappropriation of illicit funds involving over RM2 billion linked to the 1MDB scandal. He faces 15 years in prison and a RM11.38 billion fine. Najib is petitioning for clemency.
