Macron: France working with Saudi Arabia, Egypt to secure winter gas supplies

France is collaborating with Saudi Arabia and Egypt to guarantee a steady supply of winter gas, in an effort to keep prices in check. President Emmanuel Macron revealed on Friday that the country has been in touch with various entities to secure gas deliveries, emphasizing that preparing for colder months is a top priority. France is teaming up with energy-producing nations, such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar, and Nigeria, along with partners in the Eastern Mediterranean, to ensure both short-term and long-term supply flows.

The cooperation with Saudi Arabia and Egypt is designed to facilitate the arrival of additional gas or refined products from Gulf countries through the Eastern Mediterranean. In addition to these initiatives, Macron announced that France will convene a G7 meeting to coordinate energy stockpile policies, production capacity growth, and the potential release of strategic reserves.

The French leader also hinted at the possibility of EU-level exceptional measures to expedite stockpile releases and alleviate energy price pressures. These actions come amid energy market disruptions caused by Middle Eastern tensions, as Paris strives to secure both immediate and future energy supplies and mitigate the impact of escalating prices.
