Motorists in Lagos can confirm the validity of traffic tickets and examine the status of their vehicles through official government websites, according to the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation. The advice comes after receiving reports of fraudulent messages and malicious links being spread to drivers, allegedly impersonating government entities and accusing them of traffic violations.

The ministry strongly advises motorists not to click on unverified links, share personal or banking details, or make payments via third-party platforms.

To verify a traffic ticket, drivers can access the Lagos State Traffic Management Solutions (TMS) portal located at tms.lagosstate.gov.ng. This platform enables users to search for traffic violations by entering their vehicle or chassis number, or the Violation Number displayed on the ticket. Alternatively, motorists can use the official PAYVIS platform, accessible at payvis.ng, to check vehicle-related bills and other pertinent information by inputting their vehicle plate number or bill number.

The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation cautions that fraudulent platforms may try to entice drivers with discounts on traffic penalties. It is emphasized that no discounts are offered by Lagos State, as traffic fines are fixed by law. Drivers are therefore urged to independently visit the official platforms, such as payvis.ng and tms.lagosstate.gov.ng, rather than clicking on links found in unsolicited messages.

The Ministry of Transportation urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious messages or payment requests to the relevant authorities.
