$156m Peter Obi left in Anambra coffers enough to clear alleged N127m debts – Rufai Oseni

According to Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni, the $156 million that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi left in the state's coffers is sufficient to pay off the alleged N127 million debts from the previous administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo. Oseni made this claim during Arise Television's 'Morning Show' on Friday. The Anambra State government has recently released the public debt records from Obi's time in office.

In response, Obi through his Interim Coordinator Yunusa Tanko released handover documents on March 17, 2024, which detailed the financial position of Anambra State as of that date. The documents revealed a net positive balance of over N86 billion. Oseni argued that if Obi indeed took out a loan as claimed by the Anambra State Government, the foreign currency amount alone would be enough to clear the entire debt Soludo claims to owe, unless there is another debt that has not been disclosed to the public.
