Govt Announces Deadline for Expansion of M-4 Motorway

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has mandated the National Highway Authority (NHA) to expedite the widening of the Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad stretch of the M-4 Motorway from four to six lanes. At a meeting for NHA Central Region development projects, Khan instructed officials to finalize the six-lane expansion by December 15.

A briefing on the status of multiple motorway and national highway initiatives followed the directive. Khan emphasized the need for NHA to meet the set completion deadlines and hasten work on ongoing ventures. The minister also appraised Lodhran-Multan Expressway development and demanded accelerated preliminary work on the Lala Musa Bypass on the N-5 National Highway.

Rehabilitation work on the Baba Farid Bridge over the River Sutlej was also slated to commence shortly. Discussions at the meeting also encompassed projects to interlink the Layyah and Taunsa bridges with adjacent highways in South Punjab. Khan directed authorities to ensure top-notch construction of the Phool Nagar Interchange on the N-5 and integrate contemporary requirements into upcoming infrastructure advancements.

He advocated for contemporary lighting, superior infrastructure, and well-planned rest zones on new highways. Khan also instructed authorities to model their work after the Islamabad-Murree Expressway for optimal infrastructure development.
