Asian Games 2026: Chef de Mission Sahdev Yadav Flags Accommodation, Transport Issues As India Books 28 Additional Hotel Rooms | Watch

Nagoya: Sahdev Yadav, the Chef de Mission for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, has spoken about initial accommodation, accreditation, and transportation issues faced by Indian athletes. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has arranged its own travel and accommodation for the athletes, securing 18 hotel rooms already and planning to book another 10 today.

Yadav reassured that every Indian athlete now has accommodation and that there are no problems on their side. However, he acknowledged initial issues which led to the booking of additional rooms. The accreditation process is lengthy and is being carried out on a cruise, taking considerable time. Transportation issues have also arisen, but the Indian team has made its own arrangements for cars and hotels.

Yadav emphasized that the priority is to address athletes' concerns, ensure their comfort, and allow them to concentrate on winning medals. He highlighted that India's accommodation quota was reduced upon arrival, necessitating the need to arrange additional hotels at short notice.
