Amid Houthi attacks, DG ISPR says Pakistan will 'go to any extent' to defend Saudi Arabia

Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that Pakistan is prepared to go "to any extent" to defend Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that Islamabad's commitment to the kingdom's security is "unconditional". The remarks were made in an interview with Arab News. The conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthis has escalated, with Houthi forces making advances along Yemen's Red Sea coast and launching missile and drone attacks on Saudi territory.

In response, Riyadh has intensified airstrikes against Houthi positions. Saudi-led coalition forces accused the Houthis of targeting the holy city of Makkah, causing outrage across the Muslim world. However, the Houthis denied the claim, calling it a "lie". Chaudhry reiterated Pakistan's full support for Saudi Arabia diplomatically and physically, vowing to go "to any extent" required by the Saudi leadership to protect the kingdom against any aggression.

Pakistan's politico-military leadership continues to maintain close contact with Saudi Arabia, and the nation is working with regional countries and others to seek a peaceful resolution to the complex situation. Pakistan remains committed to protecting the Haramain Sharifain and the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and has signed the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement and the Makkah Defence Alliance with the kingdom.
