Amid Houthi attacks, DG ISPR says Pakistan will 'go to any extent' to defend Saudi Arabia

In an interview with Arab News, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry declared that Pakistan would go to "any extent" to defend Saudi Arabia. This statement was made amidst escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthis, as the latter group gained ground along Yemen's Red Sea coast and launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi soil.

Saudi Arabia, in response, intensified its airstrikes against Houthi positions. The Saudi-led coalition recently accused the Houthis of targeting the holy city of Makkah, sparking outrage worldwide and intensifying the conflict in the region. However, the Houthis denied these claims, labeling Riyadh's allegations as a "lie". Lieutenant General Chaudhry reiterated Pakistan's unwavering support for Saudi Arabia, both diplomatically and physically, emphasizing that they would go to "any extent" to ensure the kingdom's security.

The military spokesperson emphasized Pakistan's continuous communication and collaboration with Saudi Arabia, as they worked together to seek a peaceful resolution to the complex situation. Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment through the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement and the recently signed Makkah Defence Alliance, pledging to defend both nations in case of an attack.
