2027 polls: How to apply for INEC ad hoc staff recruitment

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its online portal, INECPRES, for the recruitment of ad hoc staff for both the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections, as well as the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections. Ad hoc staff are temporary personnel hired for specific elections, deployed across more than 176,000 polling units nationwide. The recruitment process will commence at 8am on Friday, September 18, 2026, and will close at midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.

Interested individuals can be serving NYSC members, former NYSC members meeting specified conditions, students from Federal and State tertiary institutions, eligible government employees, permanent staff of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, qualified INEC personnel, eligible ICT personnel, and those connected with institutions hosting Registration Area Centres. Eligibility varies depending on the position and the applicant's institution, employment status, and educational background.

Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs) include eligible personnel from the Federal Public/Civil Service and Ministries, Departments and Agencies, specifically those in Grade Levels 10 to 14. Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs) may include students of tertiary institutions and certain government employees, as well as permanent staff of Federal and State Ministries, Departments and Agencies with OND or NCE qualifications.

Registration Area Centre Managers (RAC Managers) are typically heads of schools or staff members of institutions hosting Registration Area Centres, or those with applicable Grade Level 07 and above qualifications. Registration Area Technical Support personnel (RATECHs) are targeted at applicants with relevant ICT and technical backgrounds, including INEC ICT staff and IT students from Federal and State tertiary institutions.
