Tuanku Muhriz's return from overseas to draw attention amid Negri Sembilan throne dispute

Negri Sembilan's Tuanku Muhriz returned from overseas tonight, potentially heightening interest in the ongoing debate over his position as the state's ruler. The Sultan is set to touch down at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Terminal 1, at 8:30 pm, with various groups urging the public and NGOs to assemble at the airport's fifth-floor car park to welcome him and express their support.

The return coincides with conflicting statements regarding the proclamation that removed him from his role. State Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim confirmed the proclamation's approval by the state executive council, with the state secretary tasked to gazette it following the necessary procedures. Meanwhile, the DKU Negeri Sembilan maintains that Tuanku Muhriz is the legitimate ruler, asserting that the final say on Malay customs, including the selection, appointment, abdication, and removal of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and the Undang, rests with the DKU.

Tuanku Muhriz is set to lead Friday prayers at the Royal Tuanku Munawir Mosque in Seri Menanti, Kuala Pilah, the following day, and there are reports of a solidarity gathering for him following the prayers.
