Sales of Galaxy Z Fold 8 increase following unveiling of Apple's 1st foldable smartphone

Samsung Electronics reported a 10% rise in domestic sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in South Korea following Apple's unveiling of its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, on September 17, according to industry sources. The increase in sales is attributed to consumers who delayed their purchases while waiting for the iPhone Duo and ultimately chose the Galaxy Z Fold 8 instead.

Apple's iPhone Duo, priced at 3.29 million won (US$2,380) for the 256GB model, is more expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which costs 2.28 million won. The 2TB iPhone Duo model is priced at 5.09 million won. The price gap between the two smartphones is notably wider in South Korea compared to the United States, where the 256GB models differ by only about $100.
