Prasanna Kumar Acharya is new CMD of NLCIL

On Thursday, Prasanna Kumar Acharya took up the mantle as the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL). Previously, he served as the Director (Finance) at the company. A press release revealed that Acharya boasts nearly three decades of experience in the power, mining, and infrastructure sectors. His career has seen him hold key positions in prominent organizations such as GRIDCO, NTPC, and Tata Power.

Acharya made notable contributions to major infrastructure projects, including the Phase II of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL). During his time at NLCIL, he spearheaded several initiatives in digital transformation and governance reforms, such as ERP modernization, centralization of finance functions, AI-enabled systems, and the introduction of a vendor Invoice Management System.

Acharya also played a pivotal role in spearheading joint ventures with various State utilities and supporting NLCIL's ambitious growth roadmap, which targets over 20 GW of power generation capacity and 100 MTPA of mining capacity by 2030, all while moving towards becoming a Maharatna enterprise.
