Peguam dakwa kerajaan N Sembilan buat ‘rampasan kuasa’, ancam tindakan hina mahkamah

Peguam Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir claims that the government of Negeri Sembilan is overstepping its authority by proclaiming the removal of Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir as Yang Dipertuan Besar and declaring Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar as the new administration. In a letter to relevant parties, the lawyers express shock at the announcement made by the members of the State Council (exco), stating that the relevant body has no authority to make such declarations.

They characterize the announcement as unconstitutional, invalid, and without legal effect. The lawyers also allege that the action aims to challenge the executive power of Tuanku Muhriz and ultimately undermine the throne. They further claim that the action constitutes an abuse of power and an offense that can be punishable under the Sedition Act and other laws.

The lawyers also allege that the announcement breaches an interim injunction issued by the Federal Court on June 5. They say the injunction was justified as the court affirmed on July 8 that the proceedings for contempt of court could commence. The letter is issued a day after the exco Negeri Sembilan proclaimed that the proclamation removing Tuanku Muhriz's post was valid and that Tuanku Nadzaruddin is the new Yang Dipertuan Besar with full authority.

The exco stated that the proclamation dated April 19, which removed Tuanku Muhriz's post, was signed and certified by the Yang Di-Pertuan Empu, which is valid. It also said that the proclamation was signed by Ismail on August 3, thus completing the process according to Perak State Government Law Article 10(2). The lawyers also question whether Ismail endorsed the exco's recent statement, while stating that it was only signed on behalf of the members of the exco Negeri Sembilan.
