NPP demands release of nurse linked to ‘Ghana Jollof’

The Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, is urging for the immediate release of a woman allegedly detained over claims that she manages the TikTok account, Ghana Jollof. Mr. Mohammed expresses concern that the woman might have been wrongly arrested, given the continued presence of the account after her reported apprehension.

He questions whether the detained individual is indeed the person behind the TikTok account, which has been critical of government officials. Speaking to Accra-based Citi News, Mr. Mohammed, who describes the woman as a health professional caring for infants, demands her release. According to him, the woman's infants and her profession as a health worker provide a clear reason for her to be released.

Lawyers have been engaged to assist the woman, and Mr. Mohammed expressed disbelief over her continued detention despite the account's continued activity. He labeled the arrest as a violation of the woman's rights and called for an end to what he perceives as unnecessary actions against citizens.
