MSG vows to fix 'mistake in our pricing' after Knicks fans condemn ticket costs

Fans of the New York Knicks were livid when ticket prices for home games soared earlier this week upon their opening sale earlier this week. Madison Square Garden Corporation (MSG), the parent organization of the Knicks, admitted on Thursday, September 17th, that they had errantly priced individual game tickets for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season, with seat prices for the regular-season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers exceeding $1,000, particularly for those in the upper deck.

This pricing structure had not only surmounted last season's costs by 400% but also left many loyal fans feeling like non-wealthy supporters had been priced out of Madison Square Garden. One fan remarked on social media, "A multibillion-dollar franchise pricing its own non-wealthy fans out of the Garden on a night the fanbase has been dreaming about for 50 years. Shameful."

In response to fan outrage, MSG has decided to halt ticket sales until the pricing issue is rectified. The company stated in a statement that they are reverting to last season's ticket prices, with an average increase of 12%, before resuming sales at the revised rate. Anyone who had already purchased tickets will receive a refund for the discrepancy.
