LPWP bincang isu pengampunan Najib esok, menurut laporan

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak is set to face the Federal Territories Compensation Board (LPWP) tomorrow for an inquiry into his efforts to secure forgiveness, according to a report by The Straits Times. The hearing will take place a week after the board postponed Najib's previous application for forgiveness during a previous meeting.

The source told The Straits Times that this event is rare and unusual, as the board typically holds two meetings with multiple topics on its agenda; this time, there is only one issue on the table. A senior official reportedly said, "I believe there is a form of intervention."

Previously reported on September 11, the LPWP meeting was expected to consider Najib's application for forgiveness. At that time, Najib, 73, was serving a 12-year sentence and a RM210 million fine after being found guilty of misappropriating RM42 million from SRC International. His sentence was later reduced to six years in prison and a RM50 million fine. Najib is currently incarcerated at Kajang Prison since August 2022.

In December 2025, Najib was convicted of abuse of power and money laundering involving over RM2 billion linked to the 1MDB scandal. He faces a 15-year prison term and a RM11.38 million fine for this charge, and has appealed the verdict. Najib served as Prime Minister from 2009 to 2018.
