Israel, Morocco agree to mutually open embassies: Israeli foreign ministry

Israel and Morocco have officially agreed to establish embassies in each other's countries, following a high-level diplomatic meeting. This development, a result of their ties forged as part of the US-led Abraham Accords, was announced by the Israeli Foreign Ministry on Wednesday. The two nations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing diplomatic relations, elevating their respective missions to embassies, and appointing ambassadors, as per an Israeli Foreign Ministry statement.

The US mission to the UN, speaking on behalf of all three countries, expressed optimism about the prospects, stating that establishing full diplomatic, peaceful, and friendly relations between Morocco and Israel is beneficial to both nations and will contribute to the global peace process. The timeline for establishing the embassies remains unspecified, though Israel had previously announced a similar move in June 2022 during a visit by then-foreign minister Yair Lapid to Morocco.

The countries also announced plans to conclude a series of economic agreements by the end of the year, alongside scheduling high-level reciprocal visits between the two nations in the coming months.
