With a population of 243 million and an installed generation capacity of 6.4 gigawatts, Nigeria's power sector falls short of meeting demands and fostering growth. Comparing Nigeria and Germany, Rogler pointed out that despite Nigeria's size being three times that of Germany, the latter boasts an extensive interconnected grid featuring about 3,000 kilometres of high-voltage overhead transmission lines, while Nigeria only has around 3,000 kilometres.

Earlier, the FUL Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, expressed the university's readiness to collaborate with German institutions on power systems, renewable energy, and engineering education.
