Fertiliser company MD released on MACC bail

In Alor Setar, Kedah, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has released the managing director of a fertiliser supplier company who was held in custody over delays in the delivery of Supplementary Compound Fertiliser to paddy farmers. The unnamed male suspect, aged in his 30s, was detained for four days before his release, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The suspect is now required to report to the Kedah MACC office monthly and attend any calls for assistance in the ongoing investigation. Kedah MACC director Datuk Nazli Rasyid Sulong confirmed the release, stating the suspect was granted bail. The MACC initiated an investigation into the delayed distribution of Paddy Fertiliser 3 to paddy farmers in Kedah after receiving a complaint from the Malaysian Paddy Farmers Brotherhood Organisation (PeSAWAH) on August 26.

The complaint highlighted the impact of the delay on paddy farmers in the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) region, covering an area of 100,000 hectares. The investigation was launched in response to the complaint.
