Kedah fertiliser company managing director released on MACC bail

Alor Setar, Sept 17 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Kedah has freed the managing director of a fertiliser supplier company who was detained in connection with the lag in delivering Supplementary Compound Fertiliser to paddy farmers in the state. According to MACC sources, the 30-something male suspect was held for four days before being released after his remand period concluded.

He must still visit the Kedah MACC office each month and appear if summoned for further investigation assistance. Kedah MACC director Datuk Nazli Rasyid Sulong confirmed the matter, stating the suspect had been released on MACC bail. The MACC initiated an investigation paper on August 26, following a complaint from the Malaysian Paddy Farmers Brotherhood Organisation (PeSAWAH) about the delay in fertiliser supply affecting paddy farmers in Kedah's Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) region of 100,000 hectares.
