DKU accuses Negeri Sembilan exco of treason, coup attempt against Tuanku Muhriz

KUALA LUMPUR, September 17 — The Dewan Keadilan dan Undang Negeri Sembilan (DKU) has lodged accusations of treason and attempted overthrow against the Negri Sembilan state executive council, targeting the raja Norazli raja Nordin and the entire council. According to a letter from law firm Halim & Ismail, DKU claims their clients acted unlawfully in removing Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz following a proclamation dated April 19, 2026.

The letter asserts that the proclamation failed to meet mandatory conditions under Article 10 of the Undang-Undang Tubuh Kerajaan Negeri Sembilan 1959, rendering it void and legally ineffective. DKU further alleges that the council's actions constitute a coup d'état and treason, punishable under the Penal Code and other relevant laws.

The state exco maintains that the proclamation was signed by the legitimate Undang and that removal of Tuanku Muhriz was within the prerogative of the Undang Yang Empat. They argue that the DKU's stance requires a thorough investigation, which Ismail had previously claimed was forced upon him.
