Defensive end whose 2023 hit hurt Joe Burrow could miss Bengals-Texans

Houston Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is set to miss upcoming practices due to a knee injury, according to the team's injury report prior to a Week 2 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. During the Texans' Week 1 defeat against Buffalo, Clowney registered one sack and two quarterback pressures. However, fellow star receiver Nico Collins also skipped practice due to a hamstring injury.

Clowney previously played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2023 when his tackle on Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow during a Week 11 game in Baltimore led to Burrow's season-ending wrist injury. Since his tenure with the Texans began in August as a free agent, shortly after his transfer from the Cleveland Browns, Clowney has managed to rack up 67.5 career sacks in the regular season, coupled with 2.5 postseason sacks.

During his NFL career, Clowney has been a consistent force, earning the Pro Bowl title thrice while playing for the Texans from 2016 to 2018. His playing days with the Texans have spanned across the past seven seasons, with earlier stints in Houston, Seattle, Tennessee, Cleveland, and the Carolina Panthers. The defensive end's career has also included time with the Dallas Cowboys, where he posted 8.5 sacks in the 2025 season.
