Curbs on flyover, days after it was unveiled, has Goa commuters fuming

Days after the new six-lane flyover in Goa's Porvorim was inaugurated and opened to traffic, authorities are facing criticism for imposing "temporary traffic restrictions." These include banning two-wheelers from using the flyover and closing entry and exit points towards Atal Setu, a bridge in Panaji. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the flyover on September 9, but a car-scooter-truck collision occurred 24 hours later, killing two people.

The Goa government then imposed restrictions to assess traffic movement and monitor performance. These restrictions prohibit two-wheelers and close all entry and exit points towards Atal Setu, causing traffic chaos and anger among commuters. Critics argue that the move is unjustified and that the government should review the restrictions and consider long-term solutions.
