BUDI Diesel subsidy eligibility now transferable to non-family users, says Anwar

The Malaysian government has decided to make the BUDI Madani Diesel (BUDI Diesel) eligibility transfer facility available to non-family users, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This change has been instituted from the outset, superseding the prior restriction that only immediate family members could transfer eligibility.

The transfer of diesel eligibility has undergone an immediate expansion, from the original limit of 300 litres per month to 400 litres per month. This new allowance comes after ministers from Sabah and Sarawak voiced concerns about the issue prevalent among pickup and jeep owners in these states. Additionally, owners of more than one private diesel vehicle are now permitted to transfer the eligibility of those vehicles to up to three other individuals, with the total number of transferred eligibility not exceeding the count of registered diesel vehicles.

The transfer is contingent on an appeal application being approved. The changes were announced during the Malaysia Day 2026 celebrations in Kuching. To benefit from these new rules, eligible recipients must apply through the BUDI Madani portal, at Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) offices, or through petrol stations. Applications submitted by the 27th of the current month will allow usage starting the first day of the following month.
