Black Maidens not owed bonuses or per diems, says Sports Minister

Black Maidens, Ghana's national female U-17 team, began their WAFU B U17 Girls Cup campaign with an impressive 4-0 triumph over Burkina Faso on the opening day of the competition. The match started with Ghana taking the lead just before halftime, as Seidatu Wahab scored a penalty in the 45+3rd minute. The momentum continued into the second half, with Gloria Ameaa and Benedicta Danso adding two more goals to the score. Hajara Adams sealed the victory in the 84th minute, marking a commanding start for the Black Maidens.

On the other side, Ghana's U-20 female national team, known as the Black Princesses, arrived in the country after not advancing past the group stage at the recent U-20 World Cup. Despite losing their opening match 3-0 to Ecuador, they bounced back by defeating South Korea 3-1 and suffering a 4-0 defeat to France in their final group game.

The team's collective efforts resulted in only three points, leading to their elimination from the group stage in what was their eighth consecutive appearance at the biennial tournament. However, the Black Princesses are determined to learn from the experience and regroup stronger for future competitions.
