Air Peace faults NCAA data on August flight delays

Air Peace has challenged the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority's (NCAA) report on flight disruptions in August, arguing that the regulator underreported its operations and wrongly attributed delays to the airline. According to Air Peace, it operated 2,564 flights in August, while the NCAA's report cited only 1,864 flights. The airline contends that the NCAA's figures exclude over 700 fully operational flights, thus skewing its performance metrics and artificially inflating reported delay percentages.

However, the NCAA cited 1,864 disruptions in August, with Air Peace accounting for 1,864 of the total. Air Peace also criticized the NCAA for not accounting for industrial action that disrupted its operations, which resulted in over 14 days of delays from August 11th. The airline's internal review indicated that only 391 flights were delayed by factors within its control, while the remaining delays were caused by external factors such as technical issues, fuel shortages, airport congestion, bird strikes, and adverse weather conditions.
