Uttar Pradesh: 102 Sugar Mills Make 100% Payment To Sugarcane Farmers, 94.86% Dues Cleared In 2025-26

Lucknow, September 16, 2026 - In the current crushing season, 102 sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have made full payments to sugarcane farmers, while 94.86% of the dues have been cleared, according to recent reports. Additionally, 23 cooperative sugar mills have also paid the complete amount owed to farmers. The State Sugar Corporation's three mills contributed Rs 543.51 crore towards these payments.

Uttar Pradesh remains the state with the highest sugarcane price payments in the nation, with the Yogi Government having disbursed a total of Rs 3.25 lakh crore to farmers so far. The state continues to lead in sugarcane production, molasses production, and ethanol production.

Under Yogi Adityanath's leadership, the Sugar Industry and Cane Development Department has set new standards for farmer welfare, sugar production, and ethanol production. The government has prioritized fair prices for sugarcane farmers and made history by transferring the record amount of Rs 3.25 lakh crore directly to farmer accounts during the current crushing season.

Over 94.86% of the sugarcane price has already been paid, resulting in a significant increase of Rs 40,720 per hectare in the average income of sugarcane farmers.

The Cane Development Department reported that in the last nine years, sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh crushed a record 9,220 lakh tonnes of sugarcane, which is 3,052 lakh tonnes more than the total crushing during the previous nine-year period. A total of 879.06 lakh tonnes of sugar was produced during this period. Cooperative sugar mills in the state also completed 100% payment of sugarcane dues during the current crushing season, with a total of 23 mills paying Rs 2,820.89 crore to farmers. The combined crushing capacity of these cooperative mills is 65,375 TCD.
