The Boyz' Sangyeon returns to fans after military service

K-pop group The Boyz member Sangyeon has returned to his fans following his completion of 18 months of mandatory military service. He was discharged Wednesday from the military band of the Army Cadet Military School in Goesan, North Chungcheong Province, having served as an Army sergeant. Enlisting on March 17 of the previous year, Sangyeon performed with the military band during his service.

In an interview with the Hankook Ilbo, Sangyeon expressed that his military experience deepened his understanding of the sacrifices made by service members and he conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to perform on stage and meet his fans. He also acknowledged the numerous challenges and changes The Boyz encountered during his deployment, attributing many of the difficulties to his limited involvement.

Despite these obstacles, Sangyeon highlighted that he communicated continuously with his bandmates to overcome problems and maintain the group's cohesion. In April, nine members of The Boyz, excluding New, informed their record label that they were terminating their exclusive contracts. The Seoul Central District Court subsequently granted an injunction suspending their termination notice.
