The Boyz' Sangyeon returns to fans after military service

K-pop group The Boyz member Sangyeon returned to his fans after fulfilling his 18 months of mandatory military service. The singer was discharged on Wednesday from the Army Cadet Military School in Goesan, North Chungcheong Province, having served as an Army sergeant in the military band. Sangyeon joined the military on March 17 of the previous year and functioned as a member of the military band throughout his service.

In an exclusive interview with the Hankook Ilbo, Sangyeon reflected on the sacrifices made by service members, expressing deep gratitude for the chance to perform on stage and interact with fans. While acknowledging the numerous challenges and changes The Boyz encountered during his deployment, Sangyeon explained that his involvement was minimal, resulting in many frustrating moments.

Nevertheless, he stressed that he continuously communicated with his bandmates to resolve issues and maintain the group's unity. Earlier in the year, nine members of The Boyz, excluding New, notified their record label that they were terminating their exclusive contracts. In April, the Seoul Central District Court issued an injunction suspending the contract terminations.
