Snap’s powerful Specs smart glasses make the case for AR going mainstream

Snap is set to launch Specs, a pair of augmented reality (AR) smart glasses priced at $2,195. These glasses will have access to Snap's new AI platform, known as Specs Intelligence. Additionally, customers will have the option to purchase a Connected Case equipped with a cellular hotspot. The introduction of Specs highlights the rapid evolution of the wearable technology market, which has progressed significantly in just two decades since the advent of smartphones.

The AR market has seen various developments, including the growing popularity of smartwatches. However, smart glasses have yet to establish a solid foothold in the consumer market.
