Snap announces Specs Intelligence app for iPhone and Mac, cellular variant of Specs

Snap, the popular social media company, has announced the availability of its consumer-grade Spectacles, with pre-orders opening today. The glasses will be available for purchase starting with a $200 refundable deposit. In addition to the glasses, Snap is introducing a new cellular carrying case for the Spectacles, which will allow users to use the product away from home.

This accessory can be bought separately or bundled with the glasses for an additional cost of $2395. In the United States, Verizon customers will be able to purchase a cellular plan for $10/month, while non-Verizon customers will have to pay $20/month. Outside of the United States, Orange in France and EE in the UK will offer cellular plans for the Spectacles.

Snap is also unveiling a new proactive AI agent called Specs Intelligence, which will be available on both iPhone and Mac regardless of whether or not the user owns a pair of Spectacles. This AI agent is designed to understand a user's goals, priorities, relationships, and routines by connecting with the apps and tools they use.

Once integrated, it will help users focus on what matters now while making progress towards their long-term goals. The app will be available starting today with a waitlist on their website. Snap has also opened a demo experience at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles starting on October 1st for customers to try out the Spectacles early. Verizon stores will also offer demos at a later date.
