Snap is launching a new Specs AI tool, and it’s coming to iOS and Mac

Snap is introducing "Specs Intelligence," a new AI assistant that can connect other digital accounts to help you with things like work tasks and keeping track of travel information. Snap is launching a new Specs AI tool, and it’s coming to iOS and Mac

Snap Inc., the parent company of the popular social media app Snapchat, has announced the release of SPECS Intelligence, an AI service designed to operate on iPhone, Mac, and augmented reality glasses. According to a press release, the service connects with user-selected apps and tools to gain insights into their goals, priorities, relationships, and routines.

SPECS Intelligence then delivers relevant information and suggested actions, like highlighting key points from meetings or organizing travel plans with work deadlines. The service includes two key features: Corners, which categorize different aspects of life, and Goals, for tracking personal objectives.

Users can utilize SPECS Intelligence without the augmented reality glasses, but the glasses enable the display of information in their field of view through voice commands. Evan Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc., emphasized that technology should seamlessly integrate into our lives, rather than the other way around. The company assures that personnel cannot access personal content used with the service, and that personal data from connected accounts won't be used for AI model training or personalized ads.

SPECS Intelligence relies on on-device processing and secure cloud infrastructure. Currently, the early-access experience is available exclusively through the SPECS Mac app upon invitation. Interested users can join the waitlist at specs.com/intelligence or within the SPECS app. The mobile preview, which launched today, is available for download from the Apple App Store for iOS users aged 18 and above in the U.S. This preview allows access to insights based on Gmail and Google Calendar data but does not include anticipatory suggestions or actions.

Specs Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Snap Inc., is responsible for the development and operation of SPECS Intelligence.
